Got a Story to Tell? Take the Stage.

As part of Culture Days 2026, we’re inviting community members to take the stage at Storytelling Slam Night and bring their voice, creativity, and experiences to the evening.

Storytelling can take many forms. Poetry, music, singing, dancing, spoken word, monologues, comedy, acting, and other creative performances are all welcome. Whether it’s a personal memory, a meaningful experience, something that has shaped you, or simply an idea you’d like to explore, there’s a place for it at Culture Days.

No previous performance experience is required. Bring your story, your creativity, and your own unique way of telling it.

Space is limited, so register in advance to secure a spot in the lineup.

Registration Deadline: September 28 at Noon

Disclaimers:

Each storytelling slot is 5 minutes in length. Storytellers will be given a time cue as they approach the end of their slot. To keep the evening flowing and ensure everyone has an opportunity to share, storytellers may be asked to wrap up if their story exceeds the 5-minute time limit.

A microphone will be provided. No other audio-visual equipment, instruments, props, or materials will be provided. Storytellers are responsible for bringing anything else required for their performance.

This is a public event, and while the evening is geared toward an adult audience, minors may be present. Storytellers are asked to refrain from using racial slurs, excessive profanity, or otherwise explicit or inappropriate content while on stage. This helps ensure the event remains welcoming and appropriate for members of the public of varying ages.

If you are unsure whether an element of your story would be considered inappropriate for the event, please contact Allie Bradford, Culture Coordinator, at abradford@orillia.ca for guidance.

Space is limited. Registration is first-come, first-served. Following the closing of registration, we will be in touch to confirm your participation and storytelling time slot.
