Boulevard Tree Planting Application

The City of Orillia is committed to enhancing the urban forest and increasing tree canopy throughout the community.

Residents who wish to plant a boulevard tree at their own expense may apply for permission to plant an approved tree within the City-owned boulevard adjacent to their property. All applications are subject to City review and approval prior to planting.

Upon approval and planting, the tree becomes the property of the City of Orillia. The applicant is responsible for watering and maintaining the tree during the establishment period (minimum one year) to support its health and survival.

Residents may request that the City plant a boulevard tree at no cost through the City's tree planting program. Requests are subject to funding, site suitability, operational priorities, and scheduling, and planting timelines cannot be guaranteed.

Before You Apply

Submission of an application does not guarantee approval

The City will review each application to determine whether the proposed planting location and tree species selection are suitable.

As part of the review process, applicants may be required to obtain utility locate information prior to undertaking any excavation or planting activities. Where required, City staff will advise the applicant of the next steps and any documentation that must be provided. Applicants are responsible for complying with all applicable legislation before any digging occurs.

No tree planting may occur until written approval has been received.
